Indian Shadow Man
Kushal Kapoor was born on 7th January 1991 in Lucknow, capital of the state Uttar Pradesh located in the northern part of India. Lucknow is a multicultural city known to flourish as a cultural and artistic hub. His father, Mr. Ravi Kapoor who is a renowned photographer throughout the state. His childhood was surrounded by his inspiration and creativity. The year 2001 was a turning point and the beginning of his photographic journey. Kushal started indulging with camera at the age of 10 as a student at La Martiniere College, Lucknow. He graduated with a Bachelors of Journalism & Mass Communication from Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, with a specialization in photography. Jointly he worked with his father on two coffee table books “Sufi –e- Bihar” and “A Leaf Turns Yellow”. Kushal was awarded a National Award in Photography at the 12th All India Photography Exhibition hosted by Lalit Kala Akademi, Uttar Pradesh, (India).
In 2017, 2016 and 2015, he won the Best in Show in Portfolio Category at the Spring Show 2017 hosted by Academy of Art University, San Francisco, California(USA), a second place in the fine art category in APA (American Photographic Artist) and the grand prize at the Fairmont Gallery of Art, The Fairmont, San Francisco, California (USA) respectively. Kushal has participated in National and International Exhibitions in USA, Russia, Greece and India.
